Good to see that others here are sharing a non-dogmatic concept of G_D.
No organized religion has the inside track, although they can often act as signposts towards a personal relationship with G_D.
Same with GolD. It is a personal choice. Some will satisfy themselves with the religion of paper promises and miss the real thing.

don’t ignore the politics. Value can be destroyed in an instant, all it takes is a change in the political landscape. A new President, a new law, a rumor, guilty by association.
Value can just as easily be created. Look at ethanol as a reprehensible example.
They just legislated that CO2 is bad for us. What’s next?
With respect to gold, it would be legislated out of this country instantly if the Treasury thought it could do it effectively. They cannot for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the second they did it, its value would explode internationally, as it would be seen as a weak spot in US policy.
Having said that, gold works as a store of value because it has stood the test of time. Even revisionist history cannot dull it. You would be hard pressed to find something else that can make that claim, with the possible exception of water and some food stuffs.

the video was running faster than the loading and the loading needed to get ahead in minute or two increments. perhaps thier server had slowed for some reason at that time. once in a while this i notices happens and re-directing the video sometimes helps? wj

Gold is absolutely not a Dollar story, and I don’t know anybody who has suggested that it is. We are almost a decade into this mess, already. The point is that the US started the heavy aggressive currency inflation early in the cycle as it did in the 70’s. We are now at the point in the cycle where most other countries are ramping up their own currency inflation- the point I have alway referred to as true “Global competitive currency devaluations.” This has big ramifications for the US Dollar index in terms of a divergence between price and value.
You said yesterday that “value” is based on perception. That has always been true in every bull and bear market and in-between, forever. Yet, one can still differentiate between gross differences between price and value. And if one does, then one can also differentiate between the gross perception differences of humans in the market, now, and into the future. Value is not a whim in the breeze.
