Awesome, isn’t it? Leonard Cohen has been part of my life almost as long as I can remember. I used to walk along the student districts of Bristol and hear his songs from every flat I passed. On a cold cold clear star-lit night at the Isle of Wight Concert in 1969, 200,000 people went wild for him.

Today I’m supposed to be fitting the last pieces to our gearbox before reinstalling it into the boat. The box is on the dock beside us, and it’s raining hard. So here I am instead trawling through memory lane, finding all those great Leonard Cohen songs on YouTube. I had no idea so many were available.

What a great start to the day. Thanks to you.

An update on the Dusty Trail

I visited St Augustine this past week end. A beautiful location with a lot of history attached to it. We stayed at Anastasia State Park. From what I have seen so far Florida does a great job on their State parks.

I really like the action in silver today but some body (wonder who) still has their foot on the neck of gold.

Bix..part of the solution

I have posted a letter I sent to the CFTC in regards to their upcoming hearing on position limits as well as a list of procedures the CFTC should implement if they are serious about ending gold and silver manipulation.

The letter can be found here:

www.roadtoroota.com/public/207.cfm

I urge every one to send the CFTC a letter stating your position on gold and silver market manipulation. The more letters they receive the better our chances of ending the scam.

Frr…………..A question…..

Jim Sinclair’s Commentary

It is happening everywhere. There is no way out that supports political expedience other than “QE to infinity.” If the Fed doesn’t play ball they are history.

—————–

So as JS says,  the govy is taking on massive debt, and the Fed is monetizing it………..thus inflating away all US debt to some extent through a lower valued Dollar.

This is where Russell’s comments on “cash flow will be imporant” comes into play; yet with the CPI corruption, and with job losses mounting- most Americans get no debt relief via the inflation.  Ordinarily, it would be the seniors hurting worst at the bottom of the stack, but jobless is worse than “fixed income” during inflation, no?

Lifeboat @ 19:25 pm

Yes alittle poetry set to good music with the right arrangement and your set for the day.

But the iceing on the cake is the way Leonard Cohen handels each piece of music it can raise strong emotions as well.

I’m glad to have had the opportunity to stumble across his work several years ago.

A must for any library I would think.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for that well studied and written response,,I am not one to let anger get the best of me,, but this story of betrayal may just put me in the LamppostRus club,,

Leonard Cohen! That’s a great way to start my day. Thank you.

Greece is just a trial run by the poachers,

who’s baits are getting too small. Going for the smaller sovereign states, before attacking the biggies and then what?

What’s left? Probably a new world, no not order, but beginning again from scratch until the next time criminals take over! - As long as we, the people permit it!

Re-read your Constitution a special gift to the world and recaptured in a book “A 5.000 Year Leap” - a must read !

Are you prepared to be taxed into the next life? There is no escape moving from broken state to broken state

QE must go to infinity or the Fed will be history.

Fully/all

I think the speculation will revert to the mean. Since the fall in 2008 max return has been sought and the proof is in the pudding, that is industrial metals aka economic expansion. An historic rise by all means in any time frame throughout history or herstory while Gold stocks to gold languished.. How much better does it get for the economic expansion crowd ? Honestly what should we expect from here seems to be the question of the day.

Myself thinks the boat is crowded, jumping on board for further gains seems like the main thing .

But I don’t know about the weimar and inflationary impact on the sm? Maybe it can go furher based on inflation only, regardless of anything else?

So to recap,

I haven’t got a clue.

Geotrader1 @ 9:23 re: USS Liberty

The USS Liberty story has been there for a long time but seems to be getting some more attention now.  Maybe the new interest will help open eyes at least to the extent that such criminal games take place.  Your first post on the subject a few days ago elicited only the predictable response from a vigilant Tent defender of all things Israeli, but that defense doesn’t hold water any more than the Liberty did after it was attacked.

There is a BBC documentary about the Liberty, “Dead In the Water”, which might interest you and others, especially the part pertaining to the re-called US aircraft supposedly carrying nuclear weapons.  It’s available on YouTube in 7 parts.  Here’s the link to Part I:  www.youtube.com/USSLiberty

Here’s another good resource, USS Liberty survivors in their own voices:  www.ussliberty.org/voices

Another most interesting resource is the spirited chit-chat here, probably only worth reading if you go through each of the messages; the last 15 are especially interesting after reading all the others:  www.freerepublic.com

Many of the facts and details about the USS Liberty, like the facts about 9-11, remain largely unknown and will likely stay that way.  Yet the existing evidence paints a disturbing picture about the extent of the often brutal, immoral corruption of our government at even the highest levels.

The testimony of the surviving sailors who were on-board the USS Liberty is much more damning to the US government than to Israel, yet I read no posts by anyone defending the US.  No one is claiming it’s anti-American to make such accusations and no one is crying foul about the US being held to a higher standard than the rest of the world.  (Geotrader, did you also grow up thinking the US could do no wrong?) Here in the Tent, never does a day go by that strong negative comments, cartoons and/or stories aren’t posted about the US and it’s officials, with nary a protest.  There are also plenty of posts expressing negative views about other countries and governments, none of which elicit protests.  Yet whenever there’s a rare post involving a negative view of anything related to Israel, one can take it for granted that at least GC will post a general defense.

Gold Queen and some others mistake even mildly negative comments about Israel as attacks, or anti-semitism, and feel a compulsion to defend their favorite state.  Unfortunately that kind of blind, defensive nonsense only helps strengthen the divisions of ‘US vs. THEM’ and further empowers the perpetrators of crimes against humanity everywhere.  When virtually everyone is doing ‘wrong’, it’s difficult to determine who’s doing the least wrong.  The idea that Israel is ‘held to a higher moral standard’ is a silly notion.  The truth is we will be better off as a species when we encourage everyone to the highest standard, when we collectively strive for the best.

I suggest to GC and any others who are stuck in such a defensive mode to take a break, step back and take in a broader view of the issues.  The issues and opportunities are about the evolution of humanity, the possibility to move beyond the parochial attitude that makes one want to protect or favor some little part of it at the expense of the whole.  I’m firmly and happily in the camp that we can and will move past this type of stuff, if for no other reason than because there’s no future in it.  As we move forward, no doubt there will continue to be dark events, but *hopefully* they will be on the decrease and certainly not be sanctioned or defended by any but a weak minority.  This is teachable.

Regarding turning back the clock 2000 years?!  No.  We can only move forward, not backward, with the possibility of learning from experience and consciously creating something better in our future.   Ultimately having gold won’t save our asses, but being golden will.

Oh, Canada…
Our robbed First Nations land…
True, passive love…
So as we don’t offend…
With glowing hearts,
And p.c.~desires,
The True North strong and free,
From far and wide,
Oh, Canada…
We raise a Tim’s(TM) to thee!
(Stompin’) Tom keep our land…
Race and gender-free!
Oh Canada, how’s it goin’, eh?
Oh Canada, how’s it goin’ ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Gold Queen @ 16:29 pm

The geopolitical situation is about to change. I am afraid the US is headed for a third world status fast, at the current rate. The religious and racial divides are a major obstacle to peace and progress.  I am a believer in living life in the present, rather than expecting the great rewards in heaven. It hurts me to see how people fail to tolerate each other, even to the extent of bombarding their civilian neighbours with illegal weapons.  Yes, it’s a big mess which will not go away, as long as people occupy other peoples countries.  Wonder how many gold mines would change ownership if  everybody reclaimed his ancestors rights a couple of thousand years back..

Gold Queen

I totally argee, but the way it is now where tolerate is replaced by accomodate I think tentions will grow where there was none before. If there were a balance but that teter todder just keeps swinging too far one way or the other.Checks and balances, yin and yang however you want to put it. Without it we’ll always have too much yang not enough yin.Or is that too much yin not enough yang. No Im pretty sure its the yang lol.

nordicbug

I agree with your vision of increased localization of goods and services in a future time. It is inherently a more sane way to live. The spanner in the works is the geopolitical situation. The religious and racial divides must be tempered. It must be more important for people to live an ethical and compassionate life in the present than to predict rewards in heaven as superior to life itself. The Golden Rule is necessary for the survival of the species, IMHO. If we cannot all agree to tolerate each other, there will be conflicts at a level that good old Spock predicts. That’s the big mess we have to get past. Mankind has a history of picking up and starting over after disasters. We are resiliant, but not indestructible.

Nordicbug

Maybe you misread me. I am not blaming China Im blaming our politicians for the policys they made to allow this to happen. That when China was building citys CITYS of factorys our factorys were shutting down. Like a teeter totter thing swing one way or the other too far based on greed by politians. What did they think would happen when they ran out of tax dollars. Her in Calif they have raised taxes to consumers because of it and still isnt helping. The ones who need it most the poor are getting hit the hardest because of it while they in the system make none.Tehy in all a little immage Calif. of the big picture have spent more money than they can hide and is why none of them want that to be known. The fact is China appears to care more about its people than US does of theres. The fact is they have someone representing them. We have no one reprensenting us, we are on our own.
