The potential today was for Kitco to have made his original post and for others to engage him in a civil discussion, or not engage him at all.  There’s simply no excuse for anyone to have engaged him in a shouting match and throwing of insults.

Kitco isn’t the most sensitive person to have posted in the Tent, he wouldn’t win any awards for diplomacy because his manner is brusque.  Yet there were also others who participated in, or maybe instigated, the brawl.  Everyone who did is equally guilty of poor judgement, yet Kitco is the only one gone and the important subject matter he brought to the Tent stays taboo.  What he spoke of has much to do with PMs, liberty and our future.

There are plenty of people here who regularly flatter themselves by implying they/we have greater awareness, knowledge and sense than the so-called sheeple, yet we as a group today exhibited the lowest means of dealing with views different to our own by blaming one person and then throwing him out.

Kitco’s original post could have been defused by either leaving it alone, or by responding in a kinder, gentler manner than he used.  As it turned out, it was the very person who’s given kudos for doing such a good job, FGC, who helped incite Kitco the most by calling him a racist and then an idiot, before giving him the boot.  The justification is that Kitco was warned.

Whereas I’m thankful the founders of GoldTent created this forum and I also give kudos to the admin for the tough job they take on, the conflict of interest exhibited today was over the top.  My encouragement is to invite Kitco back and give EVERYONE another opportunity to practice real civility instead of just the illusion of it.  If we in the Tent can’t broach the tough subjects and move through them, we have no reason to expect our officials and leaders to be able to do the equivalent.  Thank goodness the Founding Fathers of the US were determined not to let each other’s biases get in the way of creating a Republic with a wonderful Constitution.  What we do today is up to us.

My choice is freedom, otherwise what’s the point.

You know you got a silent supporter here no matter what the issue. Someone’s got to step in once in a while and you admins do a fine job.

default, hyperinflation, or both. IMF data show the US already too far gone
on both scores, with external debt at 96% of GDP and 748% of exports.

The rioters can go home, in other words. The system will collapse on its
own.

What’s the use of bickering on a site like our’s as most of us just want to discuss ways and means to survive physically, mentally and try to protect our family with the assets we’ve acquired by hard labour in a lifetime; For my own sincere truth it’s been a revelation of great company, which somehow has been degraded over time.

Maybe, like the founders of the US Constitution the implicit virtue of the rulers (leaders) has been corrupted over time and maybe it is in reality a consequence of human nature, that even at a non-consequential exchange of ideas the compulsatory motions of beating the adversary are essential … and then we’re all back to Darwinis’m.

Fine, with me BTW, if we somehow can focus unto an intelligent design, which was not only lauded by the NY Times a few years ago and also heatedly discussed - brought about by the Cardinal Arch bishop of Vienna, Christoph Schönborn and met with heavy resistance; Which i can understand …

Obama’s Fed Vice Chair Appointee: When Janet Yellen Votes, Gold Will Listen

Not sure if Yellen’s words are supposed to make us laugh uncontrollably or cry.

there is a time and place for such discussions, but this is not it in my humble opinion. I think most of us are so sick and tired of the metals markets being controlled by the Wall Street/Washington Crime Syndicate, that we are taking it out on each other. Our frustration is mounting and it seems it will never end.

You know… do we have any posters from S. Cal- LA area?  Kind of a deficit there too.

KB had his rough edges certainly and he pushed for what happened to him but I hope he can come back at some point as well.

You’re right, KB did contribute a lot. Going on and on ad nauseam about Armstrong, for example, was a bore but he did make me reconsider some issues. Maybe he’ll come back after a period in the woodshed, that would be good.

I can write with some very acid ink when I stop controlling my pen. I always regret it later. I try to remember the words of one of my heroes, Paul Twitchell. Before saying anything it must pass three tests - Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? At the risk of preaching I suggest those rules promote harmony while still allowing healthy debate.

I was sleeping while the big fight was going on here in the Tent. I’m flicking through the debris in the early morning over here in SE Asia, and everything I read makes me agree with you. It had to stop. Fights like that belong somewhere else, the chat room, another board, anywhere but here.

It’s hard to put your foot down sometimes, and as refugees from the heavy hand of Dr V we obviously prefer free speech. Nevertheless, any community has its limits. You’ve defined one of ours. Good work.
