The Tent was founded by those who thought they could do a better job than the other place.  Which they could and are doing.  Many followed them here and, although I think Kb was harshly treated, I won’t be moving on.  Ororeef’s idea is great.  I can’t contribute as I don’t think any shares are a good investment at the moment, with the probability of a market crash being very high, but let’s hear what others have to offer.

I have not read the forum for some days and the first thing I see when I do is the article about giving our authorities power to place restrictions on “which ever website they see fit.” I suspected it might happen one day, but I really thought that NZ would be one of the last countries. It goes to show that one never knows.

This hasn’t exactly made my day.

No offence, but all that sounds like those tedious “How-did-we-do” forms we are asked to fill out endlessly.

If we don’t like the way the site is run, we’ll move on. Seems simple to me.

Sometimes Polls are consider a ‘bit too personally’ intrusive.

The guys/gals that administer this site are doing OK.

The problem with Polls is that they can be worded to produce results which are pre ordained. And members can be classified.

There are Polls every day on every website, and personally never bother…….because the question remains what will happen with the results. In most cases……Nothing. Nothing more than collecting another e-mail address for Politico Spam, or in some cases, ’selling’ names to the various Viagra sponsors.

The government of New Zealand has quietly implemented an internet filter and is urging the leading ISPs in the country to adopt the measure, in a move that would give the authorities the power to restrict whichever websites they see fit.

The New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) reportedly turned on the internet filter on February 1st without making any announcement, prompting critics to charge that the measure had been activated in stealth.

“It’s a sad day for the New Zealand internet” a spokesperson for online freedom lobby Tech Liberty told the leading New Zealand tech website Computerworld.

“It establishes the principle that the government can choose to arbitrarily set up a new censorship scheme and choose which material to block, with no reference to existing law,” the group states

challenge, depending on the response you receive from your 17:54 posting. Gold Forum used to be like that, and so was Goldtent for awhile. And over the years I did post on PM stocks that I had selected for inclusion in our family portfolio, and gave reasons why I made that choice. Most of the chosen PM stocks that I posted about are still in our portfolio, some of them held since 2005. At one point it dawned on me that it probably came across to others that I was flogging these particular stocks because, not having many PM stocks in our portfolio to talk about, I ended up talking about the same stocks too much. I think that circumstance still holds today. Plus, I gradually came to the realization that few if any were interested in what ended up in our family portfolio. There was never much meaningful discussion about any given PM stock that had been mentioned in my postings on Gold Forum or early Goldtent. Unlike the investment choices I posted about, there was a lot of discussion when there was a hot stock on the radar screen like American Bonanza, Adanac Moly, Canadian Zinc, or Novagold, plus the occasional South African stock. But since 2003, and especially since spring 2006, those days of excitement over individual PM stocks have evaporated. That is likely as much a result of not very optimistic PM market circumstances since 2006, rather than any decay in what Goldtent was expected to be about.

I respect what you are suggesting - namely an end to personality bashing and to politician bashing and a return to intelligent and respectful to and fro about individual PM-related vehicles for investment. Until that happy day returns I find it less stressful to lurk than to post on Goldtent. But like our perennial optimism for PM-related investments, I also think happier days may be ahead for a Goldtent that focuses on the kind of discussion you suggested. Thank you for that posting at 17:54. Equiz.

Sadly, I have found the Tent somewhat degraded lately and more about personalites, philosophy, personal horn blowing and mud-slinging than anything of real use. My eyes glassed over the past few days with all the bickering. I rejoiced when Fully stopped it. CPAC news would be interesting and surely tons of valuable insights from the miners at the show could add to our investment acumen. Your suggestion of studying individual stocks would be a great idea. Most of the cut & paste stuff I already found myself. Some great technical analysts have left the site since the beginning. The list is long is of those who were driven away (and those who were here from the beginning know the history). It’s free and open to all, I know, and my opinion is of no more importance than anyones’.. But, I wish more emphasis was directed to PM investing, both FA and TA, and less of the “yahoo” discussion board type BS.

I think a challange for every lurker to pick their favorite stock ,study it ,chart it and review their website then do a summery on it why its a good investment and YOUR reasons why.Then add some personal insights .Publish your thoughts here.  Just one stock ,it dosen’t have to be a major ,it can be an Exploration .We can share some insights  in things we cannot do individually since the numbers of stocks are in the thousands . If you Cut State budgets and they lay off teachers and Police first ,they do it for spite knowing the publics priorities.

But Ya know what ? It turns out to be a good thing..Now the people have to take responsibility for their own security and their childrens education..all the things we have been complaining about for years  . The prior solutions were to always complain we don’t have the resources to do the job ,but now we KNOW that didn’t work ,too much money made the problems worse!!  I know for a fact that California teachers turn on the movies when they don’t feel like working.

IT’s a rare thing for the Police to PREVENT a crime even though they are good at follow up and capture after the fact.

Its a notable fact that crime went down 26 % in DC after Supreme court said Guns in the Home are legal in DC.   THATS CRIME PREVENTION.

State budgets are TOP heavy..too many administrators,too many school Board members,too many staff not hands on with the children.

Cutting the Budgets FIRST should have been done long ago.Then let them sort out their priorities while the Parents watch.

Slash and Burn budgets then pick the priorities when the fat has been rendered out…

I have seen people post strong opinions on matter and in my own way as I have a hard time posting in away that is impersonal, have too. It is though never in my intention to drive someone away. I dont think fully intends to but yes it is wrong to twist words in order to derive a diffrent meaning. Being on a cell  miss a few things sometimes.Like floridas stop sign all I could see is red and though well florida  is posting his funny pics again which I enjoy. But is does not do my heart good to see racist statements being made here. I cant copy and paste but it appeared that way to me.I see that too much in real life and Im quite aware white christians are also under attack just as there white christian ask holes, excuse my grammer, and spelling while Im at it. A black nurse for instance I ran across I have to mention she is black because told me that the place she was working at had no white nurses left even though the majority of patient were, and she was bashed because of insisting that people on the job speak english while at work.

Actually, I am really just “pulling your chain” as I don’t remember ever really watching a GBV match in the past.
