To Who Ever wants to read it

Samb,
there are plenty more than two ways to leave the tent or a tent. Quietly is so blazeh. Announcing departure is courtesy; although, much more is usually involved, as you mentioned.
Reminds me of a song, “there must be 50 ways to leave yer…………”

Some here have elected to leave because the tent has become trite. Trite because the Oasis appears to be one more agenda riddled Mirage where continuance of status quo, and avoidance of facts serves to perpetuate evil conduct by covering a needed discussion of ALL smoking gun Participants. We wanted to believe in the Oasis and can’t accept the Mirage.

When error proven, status quo is the Mandatory direction, what’s the point in riding along?
When points and facts (inconvenient to some) are met with anger, denial and sensorship, it is obvious the mirage is chosen over the oasis.

The tent designers have a perfect right to sensor; it is their tent. We have a perfect right and obligation to claim: “It’s a farce”, until our voice is silenced.

FULLY, FGC- your threat to me…….. unfinished business?
In my post that someone deleted, I asked three questions. The deleting of that post answered all 3.

Lets Face It….gold has been incredibly quite for about 6 weeks

A so called trash fish just throw them back. They might be alright to eat but I am not going to try one of them, ugly to.

Poeple who read and take part in this forum could be described as “different.”  It is not the norm to be interested in gold in the first place, to “believe” in it. That in itself makes us different. People who are goldbugs are different in other ways as well.We believe in protecting ourselves from what we believe is likely to happen on the economic front.  We all have strong views about what is right and wrong. I think it’s fair to say that gold bugs could be described as people who are likely to hold fast to their beliefs in the face of all opposition. Unfortunately, being human makes us prone to have different ideas as to what right and wrong is.

I think that it has to be acknowledged that the the views of others are not always respected on this forum. For people with supposedly such high ideals, we have fallen short in this. My own experience of this was when guns and the right of US citizens to hold them, surfaced.  This is a subject I will never again discuss on this forum. What I thought was a disgrace was the suggestion that was made that  New Zealand could be painted as a nation of cowards because of the attitudes that many of us have about the morality of war. I just can’t figure where that kind of thinking comes from. Non thinking?

I chose to draw out of the discussion at that point as it seemed to me that it was pointless to justify our position with people who had no knowledge of and no desire to know anything about what happens in other countries but their own. Concrete thinking?

One look at history will tell anyone that New Zealand, (and Australia) have a huge reputation for courage and endured much in the first and second world wars. We just don’t brag about it.

There are a lot of really nice people on this site. It would be good to hear a lot more from them.

Thanks to all who posted to me today.

I read each of your posts. Please know that each has special meaning for me. I will carry your words with me. I like the caring heart that each of you bring here.

All; thank you for your understanding.

I hope that this springtime brings new life to you all and to this wonderful Goldtent.

And I hope to make time in the future to return to posting here.

May you each find the peace and the happiness that your seek. TQ

A move that high into August does not fit the cycles that I follow as fractals.  As I said months ago……………….sideways to down.  One more high and one more retracement before we leave the old highs behind for the PM stocks.

Now, Cyclists comment might well fit what I have said for years, moving up through 1450 to 1500 for the last time in Gold mid-2010 to end 2010.  “If  Cyclist is right - the high will be in between end of April and mid May.”

Don’t know about the deflationist part but well said. If ya don’t like the tent, the discussion, or the way it is administered hit the road.

2 ways to leave the Tent

1) Just quietly leave.

2) Announce that you are leaving, for whatever begrudged reason…and then await and  enjoy a deflationist, outporing of, say it ain’t so, …crocodile tears. Then wait a while….  wash, rinse and repeat.

“It’s either my way …or there is no way I stay here.”   Don’t like the way game is going? Pick up the ball  and go home! Mama’s always waiting.

Thanks for the post — very interesting.

This is the big news of the day for our camp:

REUTERS CFTC must act fast on metals limits-Chilton

* CFTC should move now on metals limit proposal
* Limits needed to avoid concentration, manipulation
* Limits would ensure accurate price discovery for metals
* CFTC making progress on silver investigation
*CFTC should open office of consumer affairs

By Christopher Doering

WASHINGTON, March 23 (Reuters) - The Commodity Futures Trading Commission needs to move quickly to establish position limits for metals such as gold and silver, Bart Chilton, the strongest proponent for position limits at the commission, said on Tuesday.

The CFTC, the country’s top futures regulator, has already proposed a plan to limit the number of speculative contracts a trader can hold in the energy sector. The agency will hold a hearing on Thursday to see whether metals position limits are needed to avoid concentration and price manipulation.

“I think we should propose a rule on metals position limits now and move forward as swiftly as possible,” said Chilton, a commissioner at the CFTC, in remarks obtained by Reuters that were prepared for a speech to metal investors.

“We need to get this type of regulation in place for these markets, to ensure that exchange-trading of metals accurately reflects the true economic prices of these commodities,” he said in the remarks.

Chilton told Reuters in an interview he does not believe there is enough support now among commissioners to move forward on a proposal for metals position limits.

“I hope this (hearing) will be educational, informative and it may shift opinions in favor of position limits for metals,” he told Reuters in an interview.

The CFTC has proposed a crack-down on concentration in energy markets with a proposal made in January, now out for public comment.

Three of the five commissioners — Democrat Michael Dunn and Republicans Jill Sommers and Scott O’Malia — have expressed concerns the energy proposal could drive trade to markets outside the CFTC’s jurisdiction.

Chilton did not say which commissioners he thinks have reservations about metals position limits.

For his part, Chilton said he supported position limits for all commodities of limited supply — including energy, metals and soft agricultural commodities such as sugar and coffee.

He said an individual trader holding 20 or 40 percent of a open interest in any given market in metals “is too high.”

Metal traders said CFTC-enforced position limits could sharply reduce liquidity.

SILVER PROBE A “VALUABLE ENDEAVOR”

In his speech, Chilton said the CFTC is making progress on an investigation it began in September 2008 looking into alleged price manipulation in the silver market. The CFTC has taken testimony from dozens of witnesses and reviewed tens of thousands of documents, he said.

Chilton, without disclosing details of the review, said it has been “a valuable endeavor.

“We have looked at the silver market like we have never before and I think there is a window of success that has been opened for understanding about what has been going on and why,” he said.

Chilton also said he has proposed establishing an office of consumer affairs at CFTC to ensure individuals who contact the agency get responses.

“A consumer affairs section would help address the misperception held by some that we are an unresponsive government agency,” he said.

-END-

I just got off of an extraordinary, hour long conference call that CFTC Commissioner Bart Chilton held for some press and people who have contacted him this past year. Most of the follow-up questions were good ones, with a focus on the need to crack down on “exemptions” when it comes limit positions.

There probably will be some sort of press release or coverage of this call, but of note was Bart’s commentary about value regulations concerning…

*Position limits
*Market manipulation
*The massive Over The Counter market.’

He is truly unique!

From GATA’s Chris Powell to Bart:

Dear Commissioner:

I greatly appreciate the remarks you made in your conference call today about improving market regulation — and, just as much, your eagerness to engage with the public and push the commission toward being more responsive. I’ve been in the news business for more than 40 years and it’s impossible not to get cynical about the government, so it’s kind of stirring to run into somebody who’s really trying to make things better. Thanks so much and good luck.

Old

Thanks for posting that article.

Have you ever read Anna Krennana?  The political insights are facinating.  It is worth the read.

The right is the left and the left is the right.  It all gets very confussing.  Growing up in Detroit and working in the Auto plants and being part of the union in the early 1960’s I learned about tactics and politics from that perspective.  When i was  in the middle of it I was blinded by my circumstances.  My sister was a social worker in Detroit.  She got here MSW from wayne state the most liberal school of social work at that time.  The city has been run by liberals for liberals for 50 years.  There are no barriers to unions or the expansion of govt programs.  I moved in 1964 never to return.

The tea party movement is amorphous.  Not unlike the anti-war demonstrations of the 70’s.  I was part of one march on washington and voted for McGovern.  I believed then as now that if you are going to send young men to war then win the damn thing.  This nation building crap is terrible.  That was a war fought with public opinion.  I lost several friends and many came back discraced by the likes of Jane Fonda and crew.

The Trillions in debt and the political dancing around the mulberry bush is the problem.  I always wonder about the left’s demonization of bush.  He was a liberal spender.  He, His dad, clinton, carter, nixon, ford and obama are all run by the same group.

I am involved in prison ministry and take prisoners out to eat and an AA meeting once a week.  Most of them are in for some kind of substance abuse.  What chance do they have after they get out.  So most return.  Most of these people have a sense of entitlement and have formed a dependency on the state.  I do it because that is what the book of Matthew tells me to do.  He was a Jewish tax collector.

None of this political or economic clap trap is meaningful  to our destiny.  It is a distraction.
