China Slowing?
Ambrose Evans-Pritchard
Little warning flags from China
Here are two little nuggets sent to me worth sharing.
Anthony Chan from Alliance Bernstein says Chinese order of semi-manufactures from Taiwan have been in “sharp decline”. This is usually a warning signal for the health of China’s economy.
“The indicator – which tends to anticipate China’s overall import growth quite accurately by about two months – has been decelerating for five consecutive months, from close to 60pc (y-on-y) in March to just 8.8pc in August. The product mix shows a sharp decline in China’s orders for electronics and IT products as well as other light manufacturing items such as precision instruments, clocks, and watches,” he said.
Separately, Melissa Kidd from Lombard Street Research has sent a note suggesting that world steel production over the three months to August has been falling at rates comparable to the onset of the Great Recession.
The drops are 7pc global,…

NO WAY! That is so cool! Hurray for Goro! ![]()
Just off the 19th hole
Ms Scruffy and I played a nice early round. She beat me scratch: 83 to 84
We tried, but it looks like we did not push hard enough!
Looks like the criminal element needs to win one. I can’t complain, if you asked me about $1,300 and $21 ++ back in August I’d gladly take it.
Goro announces 3rd special Dividend
3 months producing…3 special dividends. Obvious that the Market Makers are naked shorting this stock…they will get burned once again.
Against all cabal odds - POG
closed on historical highs on a monthly and quarterly basis over 1.300 $/oz.
Great stuff and as far as I can see no real deep dips seem to be on the horizon, given QE2 and €- leaks - surprisingly to the upside. Smells like beggar thy neighbour attics of old and the reality of depression (not double dip) setting in as back in 1933/4.
Guess we are entering into some form of endgame for our US$ centric universe of a Fiat Paper Monetary System, which has had no equal in history; As there was no currency left backed by any reality.
What we can be sure is that historically no such system has ever survived and while we don’t know the exact date of its demise - we all feel it’s getting close.
PM’s have a way to prewarn us - even when they’ve been obscured, belittled, ridiculed as barbaric relics, sold by the CB’s, Bullion banks and shorted up to 100:1 in leverage - the Midas metal and it’s little bro silver still has qappßreciated 5 times against all odds.
… And even if we get a li’l ole correction here I’d personally be happy to step in and buy more; Made a lot of fiat from PM miners over the last 10 years and usually re-invest 50% of my net profits into bullion - a disscussion, I’ve had with A and FOA some 10 years ago.
Well, at least the former may proof to become right, which i don’t dfoubt, i prolly have to thank my miners to afford me the real metal i hold… and think there’s still time to take advantage of the coming boom in worthy juniors.
Guesws y’all know my favorite picks - though ther’e lots more
Cheers frr

HOW NOT TO GET SCREWED OVER JUST FOR BEING A GRINGO
How to Not Get Screwed Over Just For Being a Gringo
by Cathy Brown
I’m not going to beat around the bush here…my personal opinion is that if you get taken advantage of abroad, it’s no ones fault but your own. Sorry! You are a big kid, and with some common sense and a little bit of effort, you should be able to avoid most all circumstances of being taken advantage of, especially when it comes to things that have to do with money.
I probably, more than most, have “gringa” written all over me. I have shorter, pale blonde hair, blue eyes, and used to have laughable Spanish. What I don’t have is an attitude that makes people WANT to screw me over.
I see expats, time and time again, that make me imagine of all of the ways that I would mess with them if I was a foreigner having to deal with them. The expats living in Latin America that refuse to even try to speak a word of Spanish? Especially those that couple that with a frustrated, exasperated vibe when the locals can not step up and speak flawless English to help them out? Yup…I would go out of my way to mess with them. Gladly. The price just went up, what do you want to do about it? Negotiate in Spanish? I thought not.
And the expats that make a big hoopla about how amazing the exchange rate is, and how cheap everything is here in dollars…um, if I was a local who made less than $10 a day, and that had to provide for my entire family, I may be tempted to tack on a few more of those “measly” pesos. Hey, if you don’t mind, I sure don’t!!
And please, do your homework. And by doing your homework about what things are supposed to cost, I don’t mean just talk to the local realtor who deals with all of the gringos in town. (Example..I rented a house once directly from the owner that I met at the farmer’s market for $800 pesos a month. At that very moment, the same exact house was listed at the local real estate company in town for $2500 pesos a month.) After living in the town for a while, I realized that the Taj Majal should not rent for $2500 pesos in this particular town…but to a foreigner converting that into pesos or euros, they may be talked into it. Also, think about it. If you see information online from a company or business, and that information is in English, who do you think they are targeting? Locals, who more than likely may not have a computer, internet, or English? Or foreigners from the US and Europe? Way too many times I have seen two exact websites, one for locals and one for foreigners, and let me tell you, the prices listed do not necessarily match…To get the real scoop on prices, talk to other expats who have lived in the country long enough to know which way is up, and talk to locals.
This brings me to another point. Just because someone selling you something speaks English, that does not mean that you should trust them any more than someone that only speaks Spanish. I understand that it is somehow easier to let your guard down because you have the language in common, but that blind trust and comfort can get you into trouble.
Outside of this common sense stuff, the thing that I feel saves me the most is my attitude. I do not easily give the locals any reason to not like me. Even when I spoke Spanish like a two year old, I made a point to try to meet them on this common ground of language. If we would understand nothing of what the other was trying to say, and we just laughed and shared smiles, well, so be it. I made it obvious that I was open and appreciative of the local culture. I showed interest in the local futbol teams, food, anything to get them to see me as a person, friend, and neighbor, not just as a walking dollar sign.

There really hasn’t been a gold dip to buy since the bottom on july 27th…unless one is a day trader. That’s a bit too dangerous for me in here. The bottom at the end of July was so mild that many analysts refused to acknowledge it. Since then gold has climbed for 9 weeks without interruption. ( with the exception of week 6 which really was a stall rather then a weekly break down. ) We certainly will have that critical, heavy downweek but, when? This is a very powerfull gold bull that should not be tired from a cycle point of view. Despite the 9 week run up from the low I can’t find even an overbought on the daily charts in here at the present time. Were gold to get hit hard in here (for a few day’s) then we would be short term oversold and rally hard. I’m trying to find reason’s to be pessimistic in here but, can’t find any enough to worry about yet. Not at all confident that JS will make his target of $1,650 gold by January 11th as a trend change could well occur in December or very early January. It will take a true run away gold bull to accomplish that target with only 3+ months to go. Could happen but, I would choose not to bet on this event. Just stay in…suffer the inevitable weekly decline that will surely come and then watch gold $ 1,400 blast thru in the process. Imho, the buy and hold people beat the traders, hands down in this cycle. Then whether the top comes in at $1,500 or $ 1,650 we can look forward to another Intermediate Uptrend to commence and blast thru $2,000…Armstrong say’s by June 2011. The HUI will clearly outpace gold during that cycle. Looking for 4x HUI/Gold returns at that time. Best to You, Samb.

Dips
Of course I have no idea how the day will end, but every time there’s a dip and crawl back it gives more confidence to stay in and refuse to sell. If we close above 1305, yesterday’s low, we’ve done it again.

I said that

Can’t eat gold………..
true but you can buy food with it anywhere in the world! You can also buy clothing and a shack to live in. That can’t be said of any other currency.
