Chavez Says Venezuela’s Golf Courses Should Be Seized, Put to Other Uses

President Hugo Chavez said some of Venezuela’s golf courses should be expropriated and used for other purposes.

“That’s an injustice — that someone should have the luxury of having I don’t know how many hectares to play golf and drink whiskey and, next door, there’s misery and children dying when there are landslides,” Chavez said during his weekly television show, “Alo, Presidente.”

Dozens of people died in the past month when landslides caused their homes to collapse after heavy rains. Chavez said he will dedicate himself to resolving Venezuela’s housing shortage.

Chavez also called on Venezuelans to actively look for abandoned private land to expropriate.

“Look for irregularities, and by that I mean good land that’s been abandoned,” he said.

I an now in Guatemala, and unfortunately for me, Wells Fargo took over Wachovia in Georgia, which is where I have my bank account.
So, during the transition of Wachovia into Wells Fargo, Wachovia had no way of emailing Wells Fargo not to send out a new ATM card to an address that I no longer live at, I had to wait 3 weeks, and make sure Wells Fargo got back the ATM card that they sent to the address that I no longer live at.
Emailed Wells Fargo to find out if they could send me an ATM card to Guatemala. 16 emails later, they tell me that they can do that. I asked for specific instructions from them for that task, and was told that I had to call them to get those instructions. If no pertinent account info or specific account information is given during these emails, why do I have to call you, I asked.
I always love the response from the banks — IT IS PROCEDURE.
All I need is my social security number, and they can give me the instructions.
I call them from Coban, Guatemala. They tell me it should only take about a week or two, and it will be no problem, I just have to give them the Hotels address where I am staying. Costs me $2.00 to do this.
I have been in Coban for a week, so I decide I will go to Chiquimula, in the south, and wait for the ATM card there.
I email them , because I want to be sure that they can deliver to Chiquimula - a big town, around 400,000 people, so I figure good place to get it sent to. They email me back that they cannot confirm that an ATM card can be sent to this town. I have to call them — IT IS PROCEDURE.
Now, if you have ever worked with WIFI, it sometimes is an off again, on again thing. I go to 6 internet cafes, and no one can make a call to the states. I spend 3 hours trying to find these cafes, trying to speak in broken Spanish/English what I am trying to do, get a no, try to get directions to another cafe. I am NOT having fun doing this!!
So , I finally decide to hook up to Skype, which takes me about an hour. I do not work well when I am really ticked, and the instructions from Skype keep getting sent to me in Spanish , which I do NOT UNDERSTAND!.
Finally download and set it up, and make the phone call. 10 minutes into the conversation, I get cut off from the WIFI. Seems it can be done, just have to call them back.
Next supervisor I get, says, No, we cannot send an ATM card to any other address then the address on file. ARGHHH. I get cut off again.
Now, I am really ticked.
Remember, they have emailed me, stating that they can do this, and all I need is my account number OR SS number.
Call again, and this supervisor starts asking me - What was the amount of your last withdrawal, what was your last deposit,
etc. Now, remember , everything has changed over to a new system run by Wells Fargo. I am not familiar with it, do not know how to get this info quickly. I am really ticked now - If you needed this info, why didn’t you tell me so I could have it ready fro you? Does not matter, he says, if you cannot answer the questions, I cannot send an ATM card to you.
AHA - they can send it, I just have to figure out where the info is on Wachovia, and he says he can help me with that, and puts me on hold for 10 minutes.
IN THE MEANTIME - 2 minutes after he puts me on hold , I figure out where the info is, but I have to wait until he gets back online!!!
Sooooooooo, give him the info, then he asks me for a country code - what country code??? If you needed that , why didn’t some one tell me so I could have the damn info on hand for you??
No country code, no shipping of the ATM card…….
Can’t you look that up? Nope, he replies.
Owner of Hotel comes walking by, I get it, and he says he has it set up for a Monday shipment.
Great , I say, can you send me the tracking code to me in an email??
WAIT FOR IT ……….. WAIT FOR IT……………..
NOPE CANNOT SEND YOU AN EMAIL!!
Don’t tell me , I say. it is PROCEDURE!!!!
Right, he says.
I have to call them back on Monday!!!!

Other then that doing great, went on a mile hike to an inactive volcano with a nice little lake, visited the local mall with the Gap and Wal- Mart, McDonalds and real ice cream - no artificial flavours!

For whatever reason your Internet Service Provider (Shaw communications) decided to change your IP address -> requiring the new login as the goldtent cookie information had been modified.

Maybe you lost power for a period of time?

You had been logged in a long time, almost a year, maybe you forgot your Fiveks password?

Resetting the Fiveks password should get you back.

i looked in the bunker and you have not been ‘logged out’ in any way shape or form. perhaps you don’t have the correct password or something but fully can email you a new password when he sees your post and the email i just sent him.

A little over a week ago. I was logged out from the tent for no reason I am aware of. I did try several times to log in again. . . nothing worked. Was looking for help from audept. and Fullgoldcrown via e-mail , twice. . . no answer. I think  e-mail addresses were out of date, sorry, my fault. Had to change username and e-mail address to re-register.
